Adventures of Tyler Brantley

Tyler Brantley Avatar

Currently a Raliegh Fellow 26' in Raleigh, NC. Growing in community and faith along with working a 8-5 part time job with a faith-based mentor. This program is an intense 9 months but will help me build my foundations in becoming an adult as well as, forming my spiritual faith into my future life.

4 Weeks till the Fellowship Starts…

I moved out of my apartment in Richmond 3 weeks ago because I was accepted for a summer job in Colorado Springs, CO. God has sent me out here alone for the next 6 weeks until the beginning of the fellowship. I was hesitant to even accept it at first because it would mean I would have to leave behind everyone and things that were dear to me. But I trusted my instincts and went with my gut. It truly is hard being out here not knowing anyone, especially staying with a family I barely know ( my uncle’s new father and mother in law). I do see it as a promising blessing from God to have even given me such an opportunity in the first place. I’m a digital archivist for a famous painter from the 80’s, Lynne Pittard, and was hired to archive her work and create a digital legacy for all to enjoy. It truly has been a blessing to do what I love and help her with the gift God has created for me. I see this opportunity as a trial run of what the fellowship will be like this coming year.

I ended up joining a young adults group out here this past Tuesday and have started making friends. God is so good!! I’m going rock climbing with a few of them as well as a camping trip next weekend. Tomorrow I plan to visit Pikes Peak for the sunrise event. In hopes to capture some great pics, I’ll send them in a later email. I’ve gotten to visit the great sand dunes of CO and let me just say, that was a challenging hill to climb. Sand is no joke. one step up and my feet sink back down. I will say I had a funny encounter with some guys I met along the way. They thought it would be a good idea to climb the sand dunes with no socks or shoes only to realize hiking back the sand was extremely hot. I praise God for the encounter because I was there to help them out. I gave them each a shoe to wear so that they could make it back down the hill and not be stranded. ended up having a great talk with them and got to know their story. I believe God was a part of this event because there was no coincidence that I managed to park next to their car. They gave me some water as a way of saying thank you.

My next adventures these coming weeks are to visit the Rocky Mountains, Paint Mine trail, a few other national parks and see the meteor show that is taking place on Aug 12-13.
